What We Believe
About God
We believe that there is one God who distinctly and eternally consists of Three Persons: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God created the universe from nothing and that He is intimately involved in the history of mankind. God is infinite and perfect in his wisdom, holiness, and power and He is the same God who is presented in Scripture.
About the Bible
We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the original autographs of holy Scripture and in the divine preservation of such, so that the Bible is indeed the very Word of God and contains no error. The sixty-six books that make up the canon of Scripture are the sole authority for the faith and practice of the believer and should be interpreted literally, historically, and grammatically and obeyed faithfully.
About Man
We believe that man was initially created in the image of God but has since fallen due to the sin committed by Adam, the federal head of the human race. We believe that man is born with a sin nature and is naturally depraved in every human faculty and that the consequences for his sin will ultimately lead to eternal separation from God in hell. We believe that man cannot be saved from the power and penalty of sin except by the grace of God as shown through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
About Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God and the second person of the holy Trinity. We believe in his physical incarnation and virgin birth, His sinless life, and His sacrificial death. We believe in His bodily resurrection and ascension to Heaven. We believe in the imminent and physical return of Christ to earth and that He will be the final judge of every person.
About Salvation
We believe in the inherent sinfulness of man and in his need of a Savior. God offers salvation from sin through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ died as payment for man's sin and that He rose for his justification. Christ has since ascended to Heaven and maintains intercession for His church upon earth. We believe that all who repent of sin and trust solely in the person and work of Christ will be saved from the wrath of God.
About the Church
We believe that the Church is, according to Scripture, God's called out elect upon earth. The Church exists as both invisible and visible: Invisible, in a universal sense, in that all believers compose Christ's body upon earth; Visible in its physical manifestation of local congregations of believers. We believe that Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church: believer's baptism as obedience to Christ's example and a testimony of conversion, and the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ's vicarious death. We believe that the Church has a mandate from Christ to proclaim the gospel in this world and to disciple men and women in His teachings.
